At the end of October, the Wing held a weekend at Driffield Cadet Training Centre, both on the camp and in the field. The weekend was restricted in many ways as no overnight accommodation was allowed so the training ran on a daily basis, another issue to contend with but which was taken in their stride by the Training Teams.
Training included Mountain Biking, First Aid, Skill at Arms and Weapon Handling tests and for the hardier members – Fieldcraft on the Training Area.
Meanwhile out on the Training Area a full programme of fieldcraft was taking place under
the Wing Fieldcraft Officer, Squadron Leader Paul Crabtree and his team, and the “students” appeared to be having a really enjoyable time, notwithstanding that it was a deal colder than usual for the end of October.
In addition, as it had not been possible due to Lockdown 1, a presentation of a picture set in the Yorkshire Dales, close to Hag Dyke, the location of an Adventure Training Centre, to Wing Commander Steve Wiggins was made by his successor as Officer Commanding, Wing Commander Aaron Waters.
