drains or natural water courses. There is no mention of how the SuDS (Ponds) will be maintained over the longer term or by whom.
Drainage water not dealt with by the Islip Sewage Treatment Works will find its way into the River Nene which in turn flows through
the nature reserve managed by the Wildlife Trust, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The Sewage Works themselves already have
to deal with the increased housing stock in Thrapston. To prevent this network also being overwhelmed during periods of heavy rainfall, raw sewage is discharged directly into the Nene. Anything that potentially adds further pressure on to this infrastructure or indeed the Nature Reserve must be resisted.
These are just some of the problems that might arise from such developments in an
area that is not designated as an enterprise/ commercial zone. In fact it is difficult to see any benefits for our market town or its surrounds.
