      Poppy Display
Wyton on the Hill, is nothing if not unique. The one thing we all share is a link to the military in one way or another. Whether we are currently serving, are a veteran or have family members who have served, we all have respect and admiration for our fallen heroes. This is why Samantha Sharp and Patricia Fowler made the decision to create a Wyton on the Hill Poppy display each year.
Patricia contacted the Royal British Legion who were very helpful in supplying crosses, wreaths and poppies. She also spoke to her station contacts and organised for a cargo net to become part of the display. Samantha coordinated the community effort, from gaining landowner permission, to collecting the wooden crosses which were circulated to all residents in the weeks prior to remembrance Sunday.
The community at Wyton on the Hill came together, along with the Youth Club and School to create poppies ready to be displayed at the entrance of the estate. The first year the display was made the community was buzzing with pride and excited for nightfall when the display would be lit up with the lights donated by the Parish Council. The second year, in spite of Covid 19, the whole community wanted to be involved and helped create our 2020 display.
This year has been slightly more difficult due to the weather; however the community keep a watchful eye over the display and are quick to repair anything which is damaged.
We look forward to the display growing year on year and urge all Wyton on the Hill residents to get involved in our 2021 display where we hope it will be bigger and better.
