National Allotments Week 2020 A lot more allotments!
That was the cry that went out this National Allotments Week. During the covid-19 lockdown, waiting list applications have soared and sadly, unless more land is made available, most of those eager gardeners will have a wait on their hands. The Black Farmer (pictured filming for BBC
tv at Dorset Rd Allotments) Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones joined us in our call to make more land available for would be plotholders.
During the campaign week, television, radio and the press acknowledged the benefit that allotments had given people during lockdown with interviews, photo- calls and articles. Lots of you sent in videos for our competition and here are the winners:
Adult – Emma Quayle from Preston. Emma got her plot at the beginning of lockdown and it became a magical place for her and her family.
