On the 21st October 2019, I started my All Arms Physical Training Instructors course ‘60’. A total of 9 long testing, but enjoyable weeks at Aldershot Garrison. Throughout the 9 weeks, I took part in both theory-based tests and practical activities which pushed me mentally and physically.
As a young soldier, I found the course beneficial as it helped me learn how to speak and take control of a large group and also higher ranks. As a member of the RAVC, it was a rewarding experience to work with other Cap badges in a different environment and away from

my routine as a Miloitary Working Dog trainer. I made some good friends and found it easy to bond in my group as we all had similar interests i.e. a passion for fitness.
One of my favourite weeks throughout the course was learning how to conquer the obstacle course and teach others to do the same. One of the most challenging parts of the course for me personally were the higher obstacles; I struggle with heights and found my confidence being tested initially but increasing throughout the week.
Another valuable part of the course
were the intersection flag competitions held every week. This involved a variety of activities from swimming to stretcher carries, which helped to glue the section together and make us stronger as a team and individuals.
I would highly recommend an All Arms PTI course to anyone who has a keen interest in fitness and a passion for helping others achieve their goals. I believe the course is very achievable for anyone who puts their mind to it and wants to progress in their Army career.
 28 CHIRON CALLING
Thai Veterans Day – 3 Feb 20 Richard Holmes
The Thai people traditionally salute and remember their veterans on the 3rd of February. The poppy is also used as a symbol of remembrance in Thailand.
This year, the Commander of the Thai Army invited the Royal British Legion (RBL) Chonburi Branch to attend the service and parade held at the Korean War Memorial at the 14th Infantry Brigade HQ. Seven ex servicemen members attended and laid wreaths in honour of their previous formations, including Rick Holmes who was representing the RAVC in Thailand.
Following the parade lunch was served and a presentation of 50,000 baht which had been raised at a recent RBL event was donated to The Thai Veterans Association.
