Sponsoring Guide Dog Training
Over the past few years I have sponsored the training of 12 guide dog puppies, the latest being AMBER. She is a Golden Retriever cross German Shepherd. She was born in April 2016 and has just completed her training with flying colours.
All the puppies are named in honour of people that I have admired, and AMBER is named for the late Brigadier Dame Margot Turner. I was fortunate to work with her in the 1950s and have many happy memories of this period.

Betty Taylor
Betty celebrated her 100th birthday on 17 March 2018. Marilyn Williams and I were invited to a gathering of family and friends to celebrate her very special day, when she was proud to show off her birthday card from the Queen.
Although Betty never married, she has a close family who are very caring and supportive. Betty is now the oldest member of the Welsh Branch. She has been with the Association for many years, and has worked hard as a committee member.
Betty joined the QAIMNS (Reserve) in 1941 and served in the UK and on overseas postings, such as South Africa and India. The hospitals in India included Bombay, Deolali, Secunderbad and Madras, where she cared for soldiers from Burma and the prisoner of war camps.
Following demobilisation Betty continued her Health Visitor profession in the Cardiff area and continues to have a network of Health Visitor friends.
