THE GAZETTE QARANC 23
Scottish Branch
The new chair and secretary having just taken over, we were immediately faced with organising representation at the many commemorative activities as the nation marked 100 years since the end of WW1. As ever our Branch members ensured our Association was well represented at ceremonies across Scotland. Karen Irvine, Chair, laid a wreath at the Grangemouth Cenotaph in memory of Annie Campbell Reid QAIMMS. Sheila Jones, Secretary, laid a wreath for Agnes Climie TFNS at the Roll of Honour for the First World War inside Newlands South Parish Church in Glasgow. Michelle Drayton-Harrold, resplendent in her handmade WW1 uniform, laid a wreath at the Glasgow War Memorial and, in Edinburgh, Margaret Collingwood laid a wreath at the City Chambers.

Our Colonel Commandant, Jane Davis, is a trustee of HALO Trust, a charity that aims to make the world landmine free. Whilst in Zimbabwe with HALO, she went to a Remembrance Service organised by the British Embassy and the first person she noticed was wearing a QA beret! Liz Gordon, ex-QARANC Captain 1991-1999 is a member of The QA Association, and every year lays a wreath on behalf of the QARANC. Thank you, Liz, a remarkable gesture so far from home in a difficult part of the world.
