40 QARANC THE GAZETTE
After attending 2018 Field of Remembrance, Millbank members visited the memorial for suffragette Millicent Garrett Fawcett
was blue. What an honour, particularly as we were taking our Standard to pride of place at the High Altar for the first time. We remained close to the Standard as we were positioned in the quire for the service with the Lord Mayor sitting just to our right.
After the service we formed up with the old comrades to march to the Royal Exchange to lay the wreaths at the London Troops War Memorial. The gusts of wind proved a challenge

in bearing the Standard. We finished the march at the Mansion House with a customary curry lunch.
It was a wonderful two days and an honour to represent the QARANC Association on such a special weekend.

Annual Christmas Lunch
Saturday 8 December 2018 saw the annual Christmas lunch, held in The
Robens Suite on the 29th Floor of Guys Hospital. The view is spectacular, a bird’s eye view across central London and beyond. The attendance this year was the highest ever, with a record 76 people attending. Official guest Kim Bourne brought small items from the museum shop which proved very popular. Our other official guests were Colonel Alison McCourt, Chief Nurse (Army) and Colonel John Quinn, Vice Chair of the Trustees, and his wife Ann.
After observing a minute’s silence for members who had passed away during the year, the splendid Christmas meal was enjoyed.
After our meal and the loyal toast, Colonel Alison McCourt gave an address. She reminded us of the importance of friendship within the Association and continued with a Corps update, particularly thanking Millbank for its continued support. We were briefed about special events planned for 2019, the 70th anniversary of the Corps.
Chairman Lindi Kibbey then concluded with branch information, our achievements for the year and dates for our dairies for 2019. We all enjoyed another successful gathering; a very good lunch indeed.
