Many people chatted about what the sculpture meant. Some local children coming to hospital saw elephants and goats in the carving, not vegetables. Natasha regularly met many of the allotment holders. They said they felt the sculpture drew people over to see the allotments. They appreciated that. Natasha organised three community-
carving workshops. These were advertised for a maximum of 5 people, so the work would be well supported by the artist. The workshops, interestingly, attracted a local GP locum. Natasha finished and oiled the completed community carvings (all of various vegetables) and these will be installed in
the Hospital Courtyard at the time of the celebration for the sculpture in September 2018.
The sculpture commission has been (and will continue to be) a really positive force and is now a landmark artwork in the Hospital grounds.
