hard-working trustees who bring a wealth of varied experience. I feel that the Association has evolved rapidly to meet the changing needs of our regular, reserve and retired members.
It was so impressive to see the branches finding ever new ways to provide imaginative and compassionate support to their local members. Friendship indeed in the true spirit of our motto.
The charity world has changed significantly in recent years and we have responded superbly. The Charity Commission have real teeth these days and rightly set rigorous standards for financial and corporate governance. They expect us to demonstrate how we fulfil our purpose, plan for the future and comply with

I have been repeatedly impressed with our student and newly qualified nurses and HCAs, whether direct entry or joining us from other services. Your motivation, energy and sense of fun is infectious, your maturity of thinking and patient focus is superb. I envy you that you are just starting out in your careers.
As much as it was an honour to be invited to be Colonel Commandant it has been the greatest honour to serve, and I will miss it. I know that Colonel Andrea will be superb in the role and enjoy all that it has to offer. You are in the best hands.
