the course of five days. Unfortunately, some fellow plotholders were not
as lucky with shed roofs lifted off or sheds blown over and metal brassica structures bent or ripped apart.
Thank goodness these are very rare occurrences these days, as I am not a lover of strong winds as I have seen too much damage caused over the years especially in my earlier years of working on a glasshouse nursery, which was not pleasant when sheets of glass were flying through the air. Luckily my own greenhouses at home were ok this time around and well protected.
As February comes to an end and March begins, I will then start thinking about making some more sowings
of my Brussels sprouts and summer brassicas under glass, followed by a few spring onions in modula trays and my early tomatoes.
Unless we get a very mild spell, I won’t be sowing anything outside until late March or early April, once I know the soil has warmed up properly; otherwise in my opinion you are wasting your time and only achieve poor germination, so it is always best to wait until the soil conditions are right and you are then sure to get the best results from your Kings Seeds.
Wishing you all a successful season and don’t forget if any NAS member has a seed problem and needs some free advice, the team at Kings Seeds are always at the end of a phone to help.
Happy Gardening!
