Spotlight on the Art Group
We have over thirty activity groups, run by members for members. They can be divided into roughly three categories;
cognitive (e.g. languages, bridge,
need access to water and coffee and cake is a given! I can’t count the number of times one of
family history) physical (table tennis, cycling, Tai Chi, Nordic walking, Move and Groove) and creative (cake and bake, stitchers, photography)

us has tried to wash a paint brush out in a cup of hot coffee in error. Always good for a laugh.
Our photo marks the celebration of a year together and we have been put through our paces by visiting artist Melanie Henson who has kindly come along to demonstrate and guide us
We were delighted when Annie
joined us and volunteered to run an
Art Group, assisted by Pauline, to add to our creative portfolio. Here is her description of the wonderful new venture:
Our friendly little art group meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 10am until 12noon.
We are all learning as we go, sharing our various skills and losing ourselves in creativity. It is a great way to have fun and forget all of your troubles.
The room at the back of the library has been our home, great space, wonderful lighting and a warm welcome from the library volunteers. We also get access to a kitchen; well, budding artists
all through a session on water colour, subject matter is a poppy.
Why not come along and find out more about our u3a?
A good way to do so is to come to our monthly meeting when we have an invited speaker. Our next are on Friday 17th January and Friday 21st February 10am-12 noon in the Plaza. We charge £3 for visitors. Or, visit our website:
