Trustees Report
The QARANC Association is administered and managed by the Central Committee who are Managing Trustees of all funds and property of the Association. The Central Committee consists of a Vice Chairman, Chairman, Vice Chairman, 4 Ex-Officio Members, 3 Nominated Members and 4 Elected Members.
Objects of the Charity
The operational activities of the Central Committee are restricted to the objects laid down in Paragraph 1 Section 2 of the Association Handbook. The main objects are:
1. To promote the efficiency of the Army by;
a) maintaining contact between
past and present members of the QARANC (the Corps), fostering mutual friendship between them and providing for social gatherings for them.
b) fostering esprit de corps, comrade- ship and the welfare of the corps and
preserving its traditions.
c) to relieve either generally or individually
members of the Association or past and present members of the Corps and their dependants, who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress (beneficiaries)
The Funds
There are two Association Funds, the Central/Reserve Fund and the Benevolent Fund. Routine expenses: insurance, printing, stationary travelling etc are all paid from the Central Fund. The Benevolent Fund contributes an agreed percentage. The Central/ Reserve Fund is maintained by Annual Membership and Gazette Subscriptions sanctioned for use at Headquarters. Income to the Benevolent Fund comes from serving members under the ‘Days Pay’ scheme and through fund raising by Serving and Retired Branches. Both funds benefit from investment income and also gifts and legacies.
Reserves
Since there is an increase in age and reduction in the number of potential donors and beneficiaries, the trustees routinely invest accruals in order to provide an increased fund for the future.
Investments
Currently we invest our funds in the Army Common Investment Fund (ACIF) managed by Merrill Lynch Fund Managers. This is reflected in the accounts.
Organisation
A secretary carries out the Associations’
day-to-day work. An E1 administrator looks after the Days Pay Scheme and Association Membership. The Association’s business is conducted through the Central Committee.
Benevolence
The main work of the Charity is for the relief of members in need and over the year 2013 the Association dealt with 83 charitable requests and made grants totalling £34,895.99, making the average grant £420.43. There are 19 ex-members worldwide that receive an allowance of £18 per week. A Christmas gift of £100 was sent to 83 needy members and together with Christmas flowers the seasonal expenditure was £3,673.99. All members receive birthday flowers over the age of 80.
