In the article about Perennial vegetables on the plot in ALG 4 2017 there was an uncaptioned image that is not an edible plant! This is what Good King Henry should look like...

Dear colleagues,
At the time of writing, I am, as will be many of you, in the position of not being able to do anything on the plot; in fact I would probably have difficulty finding it under several inches of snow, and worse we are suffering sub-zero temperatures. Having started some seeds off in a propagator in the greenhouse at home, I have postponed any further action for at least a week. The enforced inactivity has at least encouraged me to do some of the jobs that I normally never get around to doing.
I’m sure somewhere in this issue will be further information on this year's Annual General Meeting. It is being held at the Wyboston Lakes Conference Centre just north of Bedford on the A1; the
date is Saturday 2nd June. We expect to complete all the business aspects of the meeting by lunchtime, leaving the rest of the day free so that delegates can take part in any, or all, of the four workshops being run during the afternoon. The organisation of the day is
not dissimilar to that of last year when the staff and Management Committee were complemented on an excellent day.
By now all Members should be aware that the new Members Benefit, free Allotmenteers Liability Insurance, has now started.
This new insurance cover is provided through a policy obtained by the National Allotment Society through Shield Total Insurance. This cover is free to all paid up members and associate members; all
you have to do to be covered is to contract into the scheme with your members consent to be covered by the policy and then send, or in the case of an associate member, get your secretary to send, your name, address email address (if possible) along with your membership number to the NAS Head Office on the spreadsheets available from Head Office. Insurance is one of those things you have to buy and hope you never have to use; in this case you do not have to buy it, just savour the peace of mind. Again I’m sure that somewhere in this issue will be further, more comprehensive, details of this free benefit. If individual members or site secretaries want to know more, then look on the website or contact Head Office.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the AGM at Wyboston Lakes in June and I hope the weather will, by then, be considerably better.
