Local Council Structure
There are currently three different Councils serving the residents of Thrapston
• NorthamptonshireCountyCouncil
• EastNorthamptonshireCouncil(District)
• ThrapstonTownCouncil
In the coming year the District Council and County Council will be disbanded and two ‘Unitary’ Councils will be formed in Northamptonshire. Thrapston will form part of the North Northamptonshire Unitary Council, compiled from the Borough Councils of Wellingborough, Kettering and Corby along with East Northamptonshire Council.
Northamptonshire’s Town Councils will remain and it is likely that Thrapston Town Council will be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and costs.
