Jim Robinson
Jim Robinson is a self-taught artist living and working from a home studio in Oxfordshire. He exhibits regularly as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks, belongs to several local art groups and undertakes commissions. He
has also exhibited with the Oxford Art Society, at an Oxford Art Fair and the Broadway Arts Festival. His work is in private collections across the world. He is inspired by the mixed media art of leading British landscape painter Kurt Jackson, who has a deep love for his local environment and the preservation of nature. He loves the work of Stanley Spencer who viewed the garden as an earthly paradise. All paintings were undertaken over a single summer in secluded local allotments in the village of Chalgrove, at the foothills of the Chilterns, where Jim lives. He focuses on colours and shapes found in this environment and the way these change over the seasons amongst the fruit and vegetables as well as wheelbarrows, bins, netting and cloches. His work is in mixed media using coloured pen and watercolour often highlighted with gouache and pastel. He also produces line drawings in ink and coloured pen.
