TIPS
Greenhouse maintenance tips
• Clean greenhouse windows regularly – if they are dirty, less sunlight will get through them. Use warm water and a sponge to do this.
• Before you start cleaning the inside of your greenhouse, remove everything from inside. Pests such as slugs can be very good at hiding so it’s easiest to spot them if the greenhouse is empty.
• If you need to move plants outside while you clean the inside of the greenhouse, either move them to another greenhouse/shed or put them outside in a sheltered area but make sure that you wrap them in fleece. If the temperature is too low outside, you will have to work around them and not move them outside.
• Check that all windows and ventilation sections are fully functioning; if they are not you will need to replace them.
• Check for any broken or cracked glass and replace these as soon as possible
to avoid heat
escaping.
• Open all doors and vents while you
are cleaning your greenhouse to ensure a good flow of air through the greenhouse.
• Scrape out dirt from in between glass panes with plastic plant labels.
