The watch market of 2022 looks nothing like it did 10 years ago, and back in 2000, you could be mistaken to think that it was a completely different planet.
For example A Stainless Steel Rolex Submariner bought in 2000 would have cost you around £3,000 for a brand new model, bought from a boutique. The equivalent model bought today would cost you £6,450 – but, you will not be able to buy one....you will only be buying a place on a very long waiting list.
If you want to buy a brand new Rolex Submariner right now, you will pay anything up to £13,500, the secondary market is thriving and as such these watches do sell at this kind of figure.

So, what about second hand replacement value for a year 2000 watch? Well, you won’t be doing much better, as to find one in good condition now would cost around £10,000 – if you were lucky enough to buy one with a green bezel which at the time was an unpopular option....this price would go up to £30,000!
