   Eastern Region report
The sun is shining, the crops on the allotment are ready for harvesting, and the country is attempting to get back to normality. What a wonderful feeling!
Within the Eastern Region, we are looking at having face- to-face meetings again and our delayed AGM. It will be good to meet members again and to hear stories of how they coped during the various lockdowns.
During the last three months, Eastern Region has still had the usual problems on sites ranging from petty disputes to increasing of rents. Most of the problems should
have been sorted out locally. On a positive note, there
have been several new associations formed, and from
the committee: Welcome. I hope that we will see you at our meetings and please get involved, as new ideas and suggestions are always welcome. It is still very busy with the usual queries and problems on site, most of which can be resolved easily.
There have been many increased prices of all goods, and of course a shortage in supply. However, as I am writing, the container ship that caused so much trouble in the Suez Canal has arrived at Felixstowe docks and is being unloaded. Judging from the size of the Container Ship all of our missing goods have arrived and all shops will now be full again. I wonder...
Please continue to support our local shops as they are our lifeblood and without them choice becomes very limited.
I hope that you have been able to do something special during National Allotments Week. Please send in your stories and photos about what you have done.
May I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year. Let’s look forward to a better 2022.
Please support our region and help it grow stronger.

Dear Readers,
I have submitted a photo of this kohlrabi, which is growing on my allotment neighbour’s plot.
When other plotholders walk past, they, like me, are amazed at the size of it. I asked permission from Harry, the plotholder, to take a picture of it and to forward it to yourselves.
There are several more in the row, some nearly as large as this one. Harry has been on the site for over 40 years and is renowned for his remarkable composting, taking many of the weeds and other horticultural debris that other plotholders would take home for their green bins! He is a real character from whom I am still learning so much.
Thank you,
Betty Jarrod, Lowestoft and District Allotment Association
