she is 76 years old. She ran nearly 1000 miles in total for the round trip, over 10 days. We visited all the battle areas, from St Mare Eglise, Point de Hoc, Utah, and Omaha beaches to Merville Battery, Pegasus Bridge and Sword,

The mission was to return Joan to Gold Beach as she did 75 years ago, soon after D-Day. We discovered
that the ambulances were known as ‘blood wagons’! It is probable that she was delivered at Arromanches via the Mulberry Harbour, so we re-enacted this by parking her next to what is left of the road bridge, and drove her off the
