Last year I raised the prospect of Prince William of Glouces- ter (PWG) Barracks being put up for sale by the Minstiry of Defence. We have not yet been given our marching orders,
but there appears to be quite a lot of planning going on at Army Headquarters on related matters. Home Headquarters is not only the office from which we manage and conduct our business, but it also houses a significant part of the Regimental archive as well as the Reserve Collection for The QRL and Nottingham Yeomanry Museum so it will not just be a matter of squeezing us into the corner of a massive open plan office, even if such a thing exists in the Midlands! However, I am reasonably confident that

the next Home Headquarters report that you read will be written from PWG Barracks.
Lieutenant Colonel Joe Adkins will be retiring from Home Headquarters in May 2018. He will have completed a remark- able 50 years of service to the Regiment and the Army. He has been hugely supportive to me and the rest of the team since amalgamation and we will miss his wise counsel and support. We wish Joe and Kay a very happy retirement – Joe will now have even more time to spend on the golf course!

Home Headquarters Sponsored Functions and Events
The Derby Reunion
The Derby Reunion was held over the weekend of the 1st April 2017, following the successful and tried and test format with the two functions on the Friday and Saturday nights. The Friday night at the Hallmark Hotel was attending by over 150 people and as always, the hotel looked after all the Old Comrades As- sociation, well ‘above and beyond’ the call of duty. For those not in the hotel, many could be found in the ‘Neptune’ and the ‘Walkabout’ during the Saturday afternoon. The main event was held again at ‘The Spot’ with over 220 attending. The venue was as full as I have ever seen it. Colonel English CBE, who came to see the ‘boys’ in the Hallmark earlier, spoke to the assembled mass to explain his appointment as the new Chairman of the Association and asked how he could be of assistance. Colonel Bill’s arrival inevitably meant the D Squadron lads of who he was the last squadron leaders of when he was in Swanton Morley, were surprised and pleased to see him again. Mr Steve Wass and Home Headquarters did a roaring business selling 9/12L mer-
Dave Clark, Andrew Thorpe, Gareth Kinsey 35 years apart at Derby
chandise, with some of the stock being the remnants of the PRI that was not sold prior to amalgamation. As always, the Associa- tion are indebted to Mr Gary Arnold and his family for pulling this event together.
