104 REGIMENTAL JOURNAL OF THE ROYAL LANCERS (QUEEN ELIZABETHS’ OWN)
 Remembrance Sunday Cenotaph
The Royal Lancer contingent was led by Colonel English CBE, Chairman of the Royal Lancers Old Comrades Asso- ciation (RLOCA). The contingent numbered 31 in total and it was good to see Major (Retd) Sewell BEM parade with us for the first time. While on parade at the Cenotaph, our contingent was adjacent to the Chelsea In-pensioners, and we had the honour of standing next to two living holders of the Victoria Cross. Lance

Sergeant Johnson Beharry and Sergeant ‘Bill’ Speakman. The parade and the day again was a long one, with many of the lanc- ers meeting up the night before for a beer. Next year will be the 100th Anniversary of the armistice so we expect the attendance numbers again to increase.

Forty members applied and received tickets for the 2017 London Cenotaph Parade, one or two had to drop out for different reasons and 36 actually paraded. The photo-
graph shows the majority of them. Ex- Warrant Officer Roy de Croix was asked to lead this year and proudly accepted. It was dry, bright but a very cold day with long periods of standing, particularly after the dedication and the march past the Cenotaph.
