mal sanitised military areas that we have become accustomed to; a lot of important lessons about the countryside were learned which made for a fun and different training experience.
We have said good-bye to two Squadron personalities who have served over 60 years between them. Major Andy New- man posted to Cyprus for six months as Officer Commanding Bloodhound Camp; he was last seen with a suntan and a big smile so I assume he is enjoying his time there. Major James Rickett departed from the Quartermaster’s to take up the post of Officer Commanding Waterloo Squadron in Bovington taking care of phase two recruits. We welcome back the now Captain Rich Doherty as the Motor Transport Officer and Captain John Ryan as the Quartermaster (Technical) from his post as Officer
Commanding Normandy Squadron. RQMS(T) Reeve was selected for

promotion to Warrant Officer Class 1 and was posted to the Afghanistan National Army Officer Academy as the Regimen- tal Sergeant Major – fortunately an operational tour and not a two year stint. Warrant Officer Class 2 Elce was posted to The Queen’s Own Yeomanry as the Regimental Signals Warrant Of- ficer. The Squadron would like to wish them all the best for the future in their new jobs.
Overall, it has been a successful and interesting year for the Squadron. There have been lots of diverse challenges for all of the departments and everyone should be proud of their achieve- ments this year. There have been some unusual challenges, but the Squadron has overmatched these problems every time. As we prepare for Operation TOSCA, I am confident we will con- tinue the outstanding work this year and carry forward the good name of The Royal Lancers (Queen Elizabeths’ Own).
