curing third team. Lieutenant Parker won the Novice competi- tion. Next came the 4 x 7.5km relay. This was probably the most exciting race of the competition with teams racing for podium places until the final lap. The team narrowly missed out and came in fifth place. That said, this was enough to take third placed Nordic team overall, and comfortably qualified the team for the Army championships. Strong results in the valley, com- bined with some strong results on the slopes above led to the Royal Lancers coming second overall for the combined Alpine and Nordic table – an outstanding result. The Regiment also won the combined Infantry and Royal Armoured Corps trophy and the combined Royal Armoured Corps competition. Trooper Richards won the most promising Nordic Skier.
The final team of six; Lieutenants Gardner and Parker, and Lance Corporals Churchill, Marshall and Toyne, combined with Trooper Richards moved back across the Alps to Ruhpolding in Germany for Exercise RUCKSACK. This is the 2018 British National, Inter-Service and Army Biathlon & Cross Country Ski Championships. After a hard fought week we finished 9th – an exceptional result.
The next Exercise NORDIC LANCER will again set out in No- vember, building on the success of the last two years and aim to
keep the trend of climbing up the leader-board.
