TS IRON DUKE – WELTON WATERS ADVENTURE
Our very good friends at the North Atlantic Fishing Company Ltd very generously invited 12 cadets to participate in off-shore activities at Welton Waters Monday- Sunday, during the week commencing 2 August 2021. Originally, the invitation was to sail on the Tall Ships but, due to Covid restrictions, this was not possible. The Welton Waters Adventure was offered instead, so that the cadets would not be disappointed.
What a triumph it turned out to be, especially after not being able to go onto the water for so long Each day a bus, organised by the Company, picked up the cadets at the Unit to transfer them to Welton Waters, with a return journey late afternoon for collection by parents. Everything was paid for by the Company and culminated in a BBQ on the Sunday to which parents were invited. The cadets had a fantastic time and it was interesting to note how many parents embraced the Welton experience on the Sunday!
The Company and their representatives, Helen Clynes and John Welburn, invited Julie Good DL, Colonel David Fuller OBE MNM DL, Chris Towne (Chairman of the Sailors Childrens Society), Andrew Oliver and other guests to the BBQ. A huge thank you to the Company for their amazing generosity which really did raise the spirits of cadets and staff alike.
