Colin Wood who is the CEO of the ABO and wheelchair boxing coach. This was the ideal stage in order to highlight and promote wheelchair boxing with the long term aim of it being included in the Invictus Games and ultimately the Paralympics. It was a fantastic inspirational bout and a joy and pleasure to be able to referee and the ABO continue to promote it. There is already a Remembrance Rumble 3 planned for November 2018.
Summary
I would like to thank all that have been associated with me through these years from the APTC, the Army Boxing Association and those that have been instrumental in helping me progress onto the National and International circuit and to what I am doing now.
As a result, I became a highly qualified, very experienced England, Great Britain, EABA and eventually a 2 Star AIBA International Referee and Judge and a highly respected official and was considered one of the top R&J’s in England and Great Britain.
Like many others in the sport of what was “Amateur Boxing”, I have always been fully and actively involved in it and provided my total professional commitment to the sport continuously for the boxers, the coaches, the clubs, the spectators and for my love of the sport. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and association
with the Army BA, CSBA, P&CCGB, ABAE, EB and GB Boxing and all the other EB Officials that have also become good friends over the last 40 years and feel I was provided with the opportunity and been very fortunate to have travelled extensively, meet some great people, referee at some fantastic high profile and prestigious events with some outstanding world class boxers and achieve great things within the boxing world.
Since 1997 when a handful of APTC officials were recognised for their ability, high standards and competence and accepted onto the Major England Panel, there are now a large number of Army and RAPTC officials who have progressed down the same route as National and International AIBA referees and they are to be applauded and congratulated for their commitment, dedication and professionalism for the good and benefit of Army and Amateur boxing.
As an Amateur Official between qualifying in 1978 and retiring from Amateur Boxing in 2015, I officiated at a total of 1,200 events and refereed 6,263 bouts. That included 54 International events with 228 bouts as a Referee and 750 as a Judge.
As a White Collar Referee I have to date Refereed and Judged 102 events and 1,450 bouts and will continue to do so for as long as I enjoy it and am physically able.
A MOMENT FROM THE PAST (Can you put names to the faces?)
