The F J Ahier Country Gardens, Jersey during Coronavirus
On the 30th March the Government
of Jersey announced lockdown on
the Island. Islanders were advised
that unless they were engaged in essential work to stay at home and should only leave their home in limited circumstances and for no more that two hours per day. Islanders were allowed to shop for food, medicines and basic necessities and daily exercise – providing social distancing was maintained.
The Society were determined to keep our site open and allow our plotholders as part of their daily exercise to come
to the site and tend their plots. Through our monthly newsletter, emails and letters sent to all plotholders by our secretary, plotholders were advised whilst at the allotments to maintain the 2m social distancing and to bring their own hand wipes, disposable gloves

  Kitty Redden
We at Cheltenham are sad to announce the passing of Kitty Redden. Kitty was Ralph Redden’s wife. Ralph was on the Standing Orders Committee and both Ralph and Kitty staged and managed the stand at the Malvern Shows for many years. Ralph was a founder member of the Cheltenham and District Allotment Holders Association.
Kitty was a great support to Ralph in the shop and on the Allotment. She always attended the AGMs of the National Allotment Society. Kitty lead a very quiet life after the passing of Ralph, working on her garden, growing orchids and shopping. Both Kitty and Ralph were life members of the Society.
Rest in Peace Kitty.
