Redmire Camp
An introduction to adventure training was the name of the game for all the newer cadets of 2490 (Spen Valley) Squadron recently.
This was the first camp many of them had done since joining the air cadets, and what a lovely time they had! Redmire Camp in the Yorkshire Dales has become
somewhat of a tradition at 2490, with cadets of the squadron visiting this accommodation since 2009... after the Commanding Officer Flight Lieutenant Kellyann Martin introduced them to this as a camp, where she’d been going since she was first joined the air cadets back in 1994!
The cadets developed walking and navigation skills over Redmire Moor, visited local tourist attractions of Castle Bolton, a chocolate factory and a candlemak- ers workshop at Leyburn, and Aysgarth Falls.
Great weekend, lovely weather, a super itinerary and well-behaved, appreciative cadets. What more could our volunteer staff want?
