Another Veteran’s Grave
Emilios Fakhoury (born 15 June 1921, died 11 October 2002) is buried in a simple grave marked by a
cross on which he is pictured proudly wearing his medals and a poppy. The dates on the cross itself relate
to close family members, and the picture of another member of his family is missing from the top of the
cross. The author has not been able to confirm when he served or with whom.

A Link with a Burial in Another Cemetery
Incidentally there is a large memorial over a grave in this cemetery dedicated to Vincenti J Braggiotti
who died on 31 July 1889, aged 60 years.5 With such a rare surname, he is almost certainly a relative of G
Braggiotti, buried outside Troodos Military Cemetery, who was a member of the victualling party to the
military contingent there (see Chapter 5).
5 The inscription on this memorial is broken through the name, leaving only ‘Vincenti J Braggi...’ The missing portion was
of sufficient length to easily accommodate the full name ‘Braggiotti’, which has been inferred by the author from the presence
of G Braggiotti’s grave in Troodos. The original cemetery register is now in church archives in Jerusalem and has not been ac-
cessed to confirm this name, but the author believes this is a reasonable assumption.
