                                HAIR-RAISING
Little Princess Trust
My dad and mum (Toby and Jane Hunt) took over Crowsons Funeral Directors in July 2003 when I was two years old. Little did I know back then that I would be working alongside my parents 16 years later, helping people through the loss of a loved one.
Growing up I attended Polebrook Primary School, Oundle and Kings Cliffe Middle School and Prince William School. Being in the community all my life and doing the job I do; I realise the importance of supporting charities and how they can make a huge difference.
Nine years ago, my Grandma passed away after losing her battle with cancer. Through her treatment, she lost her hair and we all remember the worry she had, the confidence she lost and the change in her, when she received her wig.
My sister Hatty and I have always had our hair just below our collar bone, never shorter and never longer. It was about a year after lockdown when we had the idea to just keep growing our hair and to donate it to Little Princess Trust in February 2022.
However, when February came around, we thought that we might as well keep it going for another couple of months so we could make a longer haired
wig... nearly two years
passed. We made sure to let our hair dry naturally and have not been using any heat or products to ensure healthy hair could be donated.
On Monday 12th June 2023, our Mum’s friend Sue cut just over 12 inches off both mine and Hatty’s hair.
The Little Princess Trust is a charity which provides real hair wigs, free of charge to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions. They also fund childhood cancer research searching to find kinder and more effective treatments. It costs the charity around £550 to provide one wig to a child or young person, including the making, fitting and styling of the wig.
Our original goal was to raise enough money to pay for the making of one wig. Due to the generosity of our friends and family we have raised £1,122.00 to date, with kind donations still being made.
