The band stood waiting patiently to march on
 Cardiff Bay
On May the 4th (Star Wars Day) The Band and Bugles of The Rifles alongside the Band of the Prince of Wales` Division, The Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of The Royal Welsh, The Band of the Army Air Corps, The Bugles, Pipes and Drums of 2nd Battalion, The Royal Irish Regiment, and Llandovery Male Voice Choir certainly had the force with us. The sun was out at Cardiff Bay, members of the public enjoying an ice-cream and the bands sounded great, not only during their own individual sets, but also throughout the Massed Bands section of the programme, and the best thing about this event was that it was free!
IN NO TIME AT ALL IT WAS TIME TO COMMENCE WITH THE MAIN ELEMENT OF THE SHOW, THE MARCHING BAND DISPLAY
146 THE BAND AND BUGLES OF THE RIFLES
This event was organised by 160th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters Wales and performances were located at the Roald Dahl Plass, the Senedd steps, and the Wales Millennium Centre. There were also youth musical workshops within the Millennium Centre which culminated in a concert, just before the Red Devils Army Parachute Display Team jumped into Cardiff Bay followed by a spectacular gun salute from the 104 Regiment Royal Artillery. There were fun activities for children including an inflatable mini-assault course, a giant inflatable dartboard, night vision tents, a climbing wall and other attrac- tions for all the family.
There was a superb opportunity to meet the Regimental Goat of 3rd Battalion The Royal Welsh, Fusilier Shenkin IV, and Welsh mountain pony, Trooper Emrys Forlan Jones, of 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards, The Welsh Cavalry.
Popular tunes like ‘Uptown Funk’ and The Rifles classic signature tune ‘High on a Hill’ was heard around the bay.
In no time at all it was time to commence with THE RIFLES
A great view of the band during their display
