This year has been a particularly successful one for the Company. In the annual Yorkshire (North & West) Army Cadet Force Nat West Trophy Compe- tition, the Company achieved the award of ‘3rd Best Company in the County’. South Elmsall Detachment achieved the award – ‘3rd Best Detachment in the County’ and Wakefield Detachment received the ‘Honorary Colonel’s Award for the Most Improved Detachment’.
The Company’s engagement with the Duke of Edinburgh Award has significantly increased and has seen almost 40 cadets achieve a Bronze Award during the year.
An incredible achievement this year has seen 33 senior cadets being awarded the nationally recog- nised qualification a CVQO BTEC Level 2 Diploma.
As well as the overseas activities detailed below, five cadets took part in a 10-day overseas training exercise to Gibraltar in April along with cadets from Yorkshire (North & West) ACF. The Company have just received the exciting news that four junior
cadets from Wakefield and Pontefract Detach- ments have been selected to take part in a
summer expedition to Bavaria in August. Here are some more Company highlights:
