     MAJOR (RETD) JULIAN WALKER TD HAS TAKEN OVER FROM LT COL (RETD) CHRIS BOOTH AS COUNTY COLONEL FOR BERKSHIRE
Major (Retd) Julian Walker TD has taken over from Lt Col (Retd) Chris Booth as County Colonel for Berkshire. Many thanks go to Chris for all his dedication and support during his time in the role.
Lord Lieutenant Awards
This year we have three Lord Lieutenant Cadets; congratulations to Cadet Regimental Serjeant Major Robert Croager – Wiltshire, Cadet Company Serjeant Major Hugo Robinson – Buckinghamshire and Cadet Corporal Will Inwood – Oxfordshire. Cadet Regimental Serjeant Major Robert Croager was also awarded Champion Cadet 2019, a tremendous achievement out of 60 Master Cadets.
Dedication of Chicklade War Memorial
A special service was held at 3pm on Sunday, 14 October 2018 to commemorate the centenary of the First World War at All Saints Church in Chicklade where a memorial was dedicated to honor four local soldiers who lost their lives during the conflict. The memorial, a plaque with the names of the four soldiers who lost their lives, and a box made from oak from Great Ridge Wood felled in 1914, containing four ceramic poppies, was commissioned by the residents of Chicklade to remember the fallen.
The service was attended by representatives of The Rifles and the King’s Royal Hussars successor regiments of those of the deceased and two buglers from the Band and Bugles sounded the last post and Reveille.

    RGJ and The Rifles Book of Remembrance Christ Church Oxford
The new Book of Remembrance to RGJ and The Rifles was introduced for the safe keeping of Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday 2nd March 2019 at The Turning the
Pages ceremony. The names of those from 1st Green Jackets (43&52nd) who gave their lives from 1958 to 1965 have been recorded at the back of the OBLI WW2 book. The new book is dedicated to fallen of The Royal Green Jackets and then The Rifles where all names are recorded. There will be a dedication service in 2020.

Obituary
Anna Sheppard – RHQ The Rifles. Anna’s associ- ation with the Regiment began in 1990 when she became a Civil Servant at the Light Division Depot at Sir John Moore Barracks, Winchester. In 1997 she transferred to Regimental Headquarters The Royal Green Jackets in Peninsula Barracks where she eventually took on the Riflemen’s Aid Society work prior to becoming the Secretary to Benev- olence upon formation of The Rifles in 2007. In 2018 she took on additional responsibility upon the departure of the Head of Welfare which she revelled in and made a difference to many members of the current and forming Regiments. Anna passed away on 19 December 2018 after a short illness. She is sorely missed.
