VC Commemoration for Lt Col Harry Greenwood VC, DSO & Bar, OBE, MC late King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI)
Tuesday 23rd October 2018n saw the commemo-
ration of the VC stone for Lt Col Harry Greenwood
VC, DSO & Bar, OBE, MC late King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI)
The service was attended by members of the Greenwood family who had travelled from all parts of the world for the ceremony and members of The KOYLI Association. The stone was unveiled by Mr Jeffery Branch JP DL MA the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire. Colonel Dan Reeve spoke to say: “His (Harry’s) was an exceptional life that showed a pattern of selfless behaviour in which he routinely placed the interests of others before that of his own. He understood that a successful life was not one that pursued self-gratification, but rather one that sought to serve others and build society.”
  Wiltshire Surge
7 RIFLES conducted a recruiting drive in Wiltshire county between Sat 25 May and Sat 08 Jun 19. The event was launched with a sounding retreat at Marlborough College and then progressed over the next two weeks with members of the Battalion attending various events through the county. Our soldiers visited local high streets, shopping hubs, park runs, open days and festivals. The event received local media coverage and was supported by numerous agencies and organisation. The band played a major part and conducted flash mobs in Marlborough and Swindon, the final event was an Open Day at Swindon Army Reserve Centre which saw over 150 visitors attending what was an excellent day.
