Gaps in the music programme were filled in by ‘Dreams’, a professional female trio who sang in the marquee. Members were dancing along between the tables to their music and really enjoying themselves. ‘Holly J’, a solo singer, entertained those at the All Ranks Regimental Dinner, again it was music that was much enjoyed by those who were there.

IT’S A GREAT EVENT AND A CHANCE TO CATCH UP ON THOSE WAR STORIES
     THE RIFLES
 Cannock Branch
The Cannock Branch serving the Midlands catchment area, continues to meet on the last Tuesday of each month (except for December, January and February) at 2000hrs at Bridgetown Social Club, Walsall Rd, Cannock WS11 0JB.
The Branch being small does not hold formal meetings. But we enjoy each other’s company, the beer, and remembering our service days, trying to put faces to names and the characters and places we served. As we get older the memory fades a little and we repeat the same old stories which seem to get embellished a little each time we tell them. But we love it.
Branch members often support Regimental events such as the Shropshire Annual Regimental Dinner and the Annual Shrewsbury Regimental Reunion. Some members are also members of the Telford Branch, our nearest neighbours, and support their meetings and social events as and when they can.
December 2018 members gathered for a Christmas lunch at a local hostelry. Seated is our oldest member and Second World War veteran Ron Mattison who was instrumental in the formation of the branch in 1980.
With the formation of the Rifles firmly estab- lished, and knowing where our Regimental history now lies, we would like to hear from former Riflemen, including any Light Infantry who may not be aware of our existence to come and join us. We need some younger blood to secure the future of the Branch and to take it forward and keep the Regimental flag flying in the Midlands area.
