      THE RIFLES REGIMENTAL DINNER NIGHT BROUGHT TOGETHER RIFLEMEN ACROSS ALL OF ITC TO ENJOY A NIGHT OF LIVE MUSIC AND FANTASTIC FOOD
The Recruit Allocation Plot at ITC (C) has increased substantially. With agnostic loading now in place, RIFLES Section Commanders have been distributed evenly across the five 1 ITB Training Companies. Maintaining a high level of professionalism and the desire to inspire and develop recruits to become competent infanteers, the instructors have all approached this change in true Rifles fashion of “embrace the change.”
Their attitude to development is very much fuelled by the Rifles ethos, demonstrated by Cpl Grover (2 RIFLES) deservingly being awarded the Army Leadership Code Award with (KINGS 4,) this being Cpl Grover’s first intake, did not dampen his desire to get stuck in. Examples like this have been recog- nised across all of the training companies, Cpl Fedee (3 RIFLES) getting best section with RIFLES 3, Cpl Simpson (1 RIFLES) was awarded best section with QUEENS 4, and Cpl Tudor took home the Army Leadership Code Award. Their success is a recog- nition of hard work, conviction and understanding
of Leadership “The Rifles Way,” which rightly mirrors the Commanding Officer’s approach and direction of leadership here at ITC (C).
Upholding a strong RIFLES Cohesion here at ITC (C) has been essential to maintenance of morale amongst the permanent staff.
The Bugle Breakfasts have proven to be popular and successful, allowing Riflemen from across the ITC to get together and reflect on regimental tradi- tions, if not just to chew the fat over a breakfast bap and a cup of tea.
More formal Regimental gatherings have also proven to be successful. The RIFLES Regimental dinner night brought together Riflemen across all of ITC to enjoy a night of live music provided by retired Riflemen (Quick Silver) and fantastic food.
The Regimental gatherings allowed the permanent staff much needed time with their RCMOs to discuss personal and professional development. It also gives the future Rifleman opportunity to integrate with members of their future battalions for the first time, whilst giving them a better understanding of what it truly means to be a Chosen Man.

   Regimental Shepherd
With agnostic loading in place, the Regimental Shepherd’s team have had to adapt to provide the welfare and nurturing support required. As the face of The Rifles, Rfn Day (2 RIFLES) has been the backbone needed to ensure that this is done right. A standard week could include several visits to ensure that all Riflemen across the Training Companies are receiving regular Regimental visits.
Over the last 12 months, the Regimental Shepherds have supported over one -hundred and fifty Riflemen transition from civilian life and in to the Field Army. From questions relating from “which battalion can offer me this?” to “what do you do during the average day in Battalion,” whatever the question, the shepherds have been there to answer them and ensure that all Riflemen advance forward into the right job.
