 PETRA;
A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE WHICH NO ONE WILL FORGET
  The exercise peaked with A Company working alongside our Jordanian counterparts, operating out on the ground in patrols and training them in British techniques and doctrine. This culminated in a hotly contested football competition which was joined by a French Reconnaissance Unit training nearby. Staying true to England’s performance in World Cup, the French triumphed over a plucky British performance but both were put to shame by the stunning display of showboating and ball skills from the Jordanian side.
The end of the Exercise saw A Company take some well-deserved downtime and enjoy some adventurous training. A visit to the seaside town of Aqaba to swim in the Red Sea was enjoyed by all as well as 5* hotel spa experience and snorkelling over a World War 2 wreck. The Company even visited the site of one of the seven Wonders of the World in
Petra; a once in a lifetime experience which no one will forget.
Exercise OLIVE GROVE was a fantastic challenge and opportunity for A Company, testing the low-level soldiering skills in conditions of extreme heat and rough, unforgiving terrain. With the added touch of working alongside Jordanian Forces and seeing one of the Wonders of the World, it was a unique experience that will not be forgotten any time soon. Major Aaron West,
