St. Vincent de Paul Society
A local volunteering charity is rising to the challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic by offering help and support to people in need in Oundle, and the surrounding areas.
The St Vincent de Paul
Society, more commonly
known simply as the SVP,
has been delivering grocery
supplies to vulnerable people
who are shielding and can’t get
out to their local shops, as well
as providing food to those who are struggling to afford to feed their families.
In addition, our local volunteers have been phoning or writing to lonely and isolated people, people in care homes and providing friendship and someone to talk to for those who can’t visit family and friends.
“Many local people have been really suffering during the coronavirus crisis,” commented Joe Gasan, whose SVP group covers an area from Oundle and Thrapston, through to Raunds. “We have seen loneliness, depression and food poverty on the rise, but our volunteers have been working really hard to help them wherever possible.”
said. “The country has had a very challenging year, and many people are facing hardship with unemployment, homelessness and food poverty. The SVP has been trying to support the people of our community and give assistance to those in need.”
If you feel that you or someone you know would benefit from help and support from the SVP, please get in touch by contacting
Joe on 07860 372283 or email: svpthrapston@gmail.com
