large role in the delivery on AT. During the LDT course at JSMTW Llanrwst, I realised that AT is not just about learning new skills and taking risks in a controlled environment - it can also be used to help service men and women realise his or her strengths and weaknesses as an individual. These traits can then be used as a tool to enhance individual skills which can be used within the work environment and in turn enhance Operational Capability.
The ReM was a thoroughly enjoyable experience which set me up well for my transition to JSMTW (L): I would recommend the transition course to anyone considering a career as an RAPTC ATI.

JOINT SERVICE SUB-AQUA DIVE CENTRE
Sardinian Merganser
In early February members of the Joint Service Sub Aqua Dive Centre deployed to the Italian island of Sardinia to conduct their annual assurance training alongside their counterparts from the Joint Service Adventurous Training Wing (Cyprus).
Diving was conducted in challenging conditions from 3 different platforms; Hard Boat, Delta Rhib and from the Shore in locations and conditions that no one had experienced before. There was an instance during our 50-metre depth progression where the Rhib was filled with water and the team felt we were surely going to sink. Rather than stress about it, we cracked on in good military fashion getting ourselves to a sheltered area, emptyied the water from the boat and cracked on once again. This is AT, someone shouted whilst laughing. The boat driver didn’t think so.
Each day a different supervisor would oversee the planning and execution of the days diving; enabling trainee divers to develop and enhance new skills in order to progress through the diving training syllabus. Junior supervisors were also afforded the opportunity of planning dives under the supervision of an Expedition Supervisor enabling them to develop their skills and experience in different environments.
Sardinia was different in many ways to what we are normally used to. This however, is why we travel to these new locations to conduct training, gain experience and confidence in ourselves and our ability to conduct diving operations worldwide. Everyone on this year’s staff training was tested and
came away having had many lessons and experiences which they can take with them; hopefully making them better divers and people.
