My report normally focuses on our Annual dinner activities, however, this year the Covid-19 pandemic has put paid to all of those! In my year of Retirement I was looking forward
to going to all the Association Branch Dinners; maybe next year.
This year, the Branch has also put more effort into caring for our ageing members who served our Corps in and around WW2. I remember the planning that we had in place to look after and “spoil” Tom Pettett and Norman Jones in 2016 who were both approaching their 100th Birthdays but sadly they both passed away 6 months short and within a week of each other! RIP.
We currently have 3 ‘seniors’ in this Branch, Frank Bruin 98, George Bleasby 97 and Noel Kinder 96. These elderly gentlemen get phone calls regularly from myself, Dave Warburton or Dave Smith to let them know that we as a Corps are thinking of them and to let them know that if anything is required we are only a phone call away or indeed just a few miles up the road. As old
as we are, or getting!! it means so much to them to receive these calls and it often ends in tears. Many of us are in the chasing pack, let’s hope we all make it! It would be so nice to celebrate the life of a centurion.
If any Association member in the North East, serving or retired wishes to offer a little time, say 15 mins a month just to give someone near you a call, then please get in touch with one of the Branch committee members and we will try and put you in touch with someone and arrange an appropriate time for the call.
I will take this opportunity to thank my committee “D” and “D” for their dedication and hard work for the Branch this last year. We are already planning a bumper reunion next year 16th - 17th April 2021.
I hope you all stay safe in this current environment and look forward to welcoming you all back to Scarborough next year.

NORTH EAST BRANCH - REMEMBRANCE DAY 2019
Mr I Dean
24 North East Branch members met on Sunday 10th November at the Memorial Gardens, York where we laid a wreath to pay our respects to our fallen. What
a lovely day we had, the sun was out and we paid our
respects, we then sat down for lunch afterwards and for a few amazing hours told and listened to the fondest stories! Once again, we were admirably looked after by the staff of the Maltings in York.
