Over the last 12 months 1 PWRR have experienced a significant change in circumstances. Along with the battalion’s relocation there has been many changes for
the soldiers and their families. After making a positive impact with Physical Development whilst the Bn was going through a very demanding and challenging period closing Barker Barracks in Germany, 1PWRR are now in Dhekelia in Cyprus.
Throughout the busy 8 months the Bn have firmly embraced the transformation with Physical Development. The added challenges of acclimatisation, Physical Employment Standards and the physical and mental demands that come with the change.
I have been with the Bn for the past 18 months and I have made it a priority to increase the amount of AAPTI’s. This has not come without its difficulties, with an ever-changing set of rotations and continuous tempo combined with the normal training, the Bn find themselves stretched but we still have additional personnel waiting to get on future AAPTI courses.
Sport consistently remains at the forefront of Bn life, with the football and rugby teams continuing to be a growing success.

Dedication and hard work enabled the British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF), Volleyball, squash, golf, indoor rowing and cycling teams to win the 2020 CBF Cup. The BAWF is growing and becoming a riot in Cyprus with RAF and Army competing side by side.
