EXERCISE DRAGON ADVENTURE – CAPEL CURIG
Adventure Training is not only a great way to develop confidence and Leadership but it an outstanding way of developing team spirit. WO2 Dean Hudson was tasked
to organise an AT Exercise for up to 40 personnel. Once advertised the places were snapped up, demonstrating that reservists are extremely keen to take such opportunities. The Ex was based at Capel Curig between Fri 28 and Sun 30 Jul and included Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking and White Water Rafting. The Company invested in a lot of new Rock Climbing equipment and took advantage of the Mountain Bikes owned by the Battalion. There were a number of ‘firsts’ for some people. The challenges set by the Instructors (Capt Gaz Dixon and Cpl Tris
NCO Cadre at EndEx
Tristram (Rock Climbing) and Sgt (Noony) Noon (Mountain Biking)), were achieved at the expenses of only a few cuts and bruises! The White Water Rafting at the National White Water Centre, Balla was

outstanding. Each man had 4 runs along the White-Water course which proved to be exciting, very wet and great fun.
    CRICH PILGRIMAGE
D Company this year had the honour of supporting the Crich Pilgrimage on 02 Jul. A lot of preparation work was conducted by Capt Steve Condliffe (PASO) and CSgt Derek Roberts (QPSI) who both liaised closely with RHQ in order to ensure that the intended plan was realised. Tents were erected, moved and moved again and eventually, under the watchful eye of Cindy from RHQ, the scene was set for the Pilgrimage. As both 1 and 2 MERCIAN were deployed it was down to 4 MERCIAN to provide the administrative support, the VIP hosting and the Colour Party. The day of the Pilgrimage was sunny and of course windy. A good number of Regimental veterans were present to witness the ceremony and to catch up and spin a few war stories.
