  Hednesford branch
Members of the Hednesford branch at their Christmas meeting paid tribute to one of their own, Roy painter who served in the South Staffordshire Regiment is a bugler in the Corp of Drums.
During the past 20 years as
a member of the Regimental Association he has put his talents to good use.
He has carried out numerous public and civic duties as well as sounding Last Post and Reveille at many funerals of ex-service members, which is been much valued by their family and friends.
He was presented with a certificate in recognition of his commitment and loyal service by Lt Col (Retd) Dougie Bridges MBE.
Seen in the photograph is Roy and his wife along with the President Harold Pine and Chairman Gordon Taylor.
He was given a standing ovation by all his friends and fellow members.
  MRA Dinner 2017
A successful dinner night was held by the Burton and District branch of the Mercian Regimental Association where some 80 members and friends sat down to a three course meal with wine served at the table in the renowned Hilton House hotel.
During the evening Grace was said by Mike Neal, our Secretary, and thanks to the many gifts contributed on the night, a most accessible fundraising raffle was achieved.
A brief update on the progress of membership was given by Dougie Bridges, the Chairman, which was followed by a presentation of inscribed cut glass tankards to James Pastre for his commitment and achievements with the drums and Mike Neal for his efforts on behalf the Regimental Association.
The members were all pleased to welcome Paul Bywater and box and Eddie Binis with their ladies who joined us on the occasion. The dinner was concluded by
a toast to her Majesty the Queen and the Mercian Regiment and the soldiers who are serving.
 A day at the races
Here Lt Col (Retd) Dougie Bridges MBE with his grandson Luke on his 14th birthday make the presentation of the Mercian Challenge Trophy
to the winners (owner / trainer) of Beneficial Joe 10-1 at the Uttoxeter races.
Luke is a student at the Royal School, Wolverhampton and member of the cadet unit.
