MIRFIELD AIR CADETS
One weekend toward the end of March proved to
be very demanding for members of 868 (Mirfield) Squadron Air Cadets. A party of ten cadets, accompanied by Flight Lieutenant Peter Doubell and Civilian Instructor Charlie McGovern travelled to Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College for their annual STEM/Leadership Challenge, a full weekend of mentally and physically demanding activities for cadets aged 13-15.
For the cadets from Mirfield, this was their first attendance at the event and they threw themselves into the various challenges of a very busy and dynamic programme with great enthusiasm. The activities they took part in, and were assessed, on included Bloodhound (rocket propelled car) and construction of working rocket car, Obstacle Course, Minefield Crossing, River Crossing, Codebreaking (with Royal Signals), Trim Trail, Climbing Wall, Clay Target Shooting Simulator, Orienteering, First Aid and Vehicle Recovery (with REME).

Overall, I believe that the camp was excellent and
