National Allotment Society & Natural Grower to Partner Up
Natural Grower is a family-run business in Leicestershire. Owner Charlotte Beaty’s family has been farming at Nevill Holt for over 50 years – originally operating as a dairy unit before diversifying into arable crops. They invested in a renewable energy plant – an anaerobic digester that is fed with non-GMO maize grown on the farm, and discovered that one of the process’s by-products was a nutrient- rich organic fertiliser that could be used to fertilise their arable crops.
Their minds were opened to the possibilities and benefits of replacing chemical fertilisers on the land, and the farm soon saw outstanding results in commercial crops, garden vegetables, plants and indoor plants. Naturally, they wanted to share this success with other keen gardeners, looking for an effective, organic solution.
Their range of liquid fertiliser, compost, plant feed and soil conditioner are all suitable for outdoor and indoor plants. Approved by the Soil Association, Biodynamic Association and the Vegan Society, members can be assured that all their products are accredited organic and fully traceable.
The National Allotment Society and Natural Grower will work in partnership over the next six months to enable NAS members the opportunity to try their
sustainably produced compost, liquid fertiliser, soil conditioner and plant feed at a discounted rate.
The decision to join forces comes at a time where the impact of traditional, peat compost is being recognised by national government and new rulings as to how it can be used are coming into place. The NAS is working hard to help support allotmenteers to choose growing materials that benefit the environment as well as their crops.
Natural Grower compost contains plant feed and soil conditioner and provides all the balanced nutrients plants need to thrive. With its moisture retaining and aerating properties, watering requirements during the hot summer months should be reduced. Most importantly, this compost is designed to improve the long-term structure and organic matter content of the soil.
The National Allotment Society is thrilled to be able to work with Natural Grower. In the process of developing the partnership over the last eight months, the NAS took feedback
from impartial sources to ensure
the quality of the product and the crops it produces. The response was wholeheartedly positive and backed up the important work Natural Grower are doing towards sustainability for gardeners and commercial growers.
