    Focus on the Tiverton Allotments & Cottage Gardens Association
The Tiverton Allotments & Cottage Gardens Association (TAA) primarily supports people who have allotments in Tiverton, Devon. We also support people who are interested in growing fruit and veg in their own garden. The majority of allotments are owned and managed by the Town Council, which has six sites around the town, ranging in size from eight plots on a
site to over 50 (and with a range of soil conditions from heavy clay to alluvial silt). There are some 240 plots and half plots. There are also two small private garden allotment sites run by the Knightshayes Estate Office, an historical remnant of when the local factory owners, Heathcoats, built and owned much of the housing near the factory.
We have been busy over the late spring and early summer. A special gardening day at the end of May in the town’s pannier market was very popular. We had a stand and spent the day giving advice to gardeners, encouraging reducing turning the soil and signing up new members, along with giving out application forms for the Town Council’s allotments waiting list. It was
