Oundle Repair Café
Oundle Repair Café was re-launched in
April 2022, after COVID interrupted its
first showing in 2019. Since then our gifted volunteers have fixed more than 230 items – almost two-thirds of those items brought in – and prevented them from going to landfill.
On average, in the four last cafes, we have fixed 35 items a time. Which kind of fits with our purpose – as part of a worldwide network of Repair Cafés, our aim is
simple – to repair items rather than throwing them out.
In that time, we
have mended items
as diverse as dancing soldiers and broken dragons. We’ve repaired no end of clocks and radios, fixed jewellery, replaced chair legs, sorted out hoovers,
and sharpened knives
and garden tools. We’ve also sewn and darned sweaters, jeans and trousers – and even sewed ears and feet onto toy dogs and beloved koalas.
We’ve also serviced bikes, replaced gears and brakes – though always have room for more.
So, what could we do for you? We’re next open on 20th April at Fletton House on
Glapthorn Road in Oundle, between 2pm and 5pm.
You could come over simply for the company and cakes – many do, for
it’s a great atmosphere.
    Simply email repaircafe@ transitionoundle.org.uk with
details of what you have, and what you’d like to
happen. We’ll get back to you or head over to... www.oundlerepaircafe.org.uk
for more information.
