Yorkshire
An Amazing Two Days
Colleagues from the Rotherham Federation invited me to put in an appearance at the Rotherham Show. I took with me an additional leaflet stand and some NAS banners to complement their Federation Stand.
The week before the show Mike from the Federation rang to say one of the Rotherham Councillors suggested I join them for lunch. Two days later I received an invite which read ‘Dear Distinguished Guest’; well, I have been called many names in my time but was rather honoured by this title. It was an invite to join the Mayor of Rotherham and the Civic Party for lunch and a tour around the show. The lunch was very nice, and what a Show! It was huge, filling nearly all the park, and what’s more it was free to all members of the public.

There was something for everyone. How nice it would be if other Councils could follow their suit.
The whole event was a really fun and happy event. We had a lot of interest about allotments. All of the horticultural prizes were presented just in front of the Federations stand.
Thanks go to the Federation members who put so much hard work into promoting the NAS and the allotment movement. I have also written to the Lord Mayor thanking him for their very generous hospitality.
I shall be seeing the Lord Mayor again soon, as he is opening our Yorkshire Federation AGM in Rotherham on the 20th October 2018. Phil Gomersall

Hens that eat well, lay well
When feeding hens, one of the most important things to remember is that you get out what you put in. The quality of the feed you provide will be reflected in the quality, quantity and taste of the eggs your chickens produce.
A good quality layers feed such as the Smallholder Range’s Natural Free Range Pellets can be given on a free access basis, year round and is suitable for all hens, not just for those laying. Although a good diet is vital for egg production, it is also very important for the overall health of all hens, whether pullets or those going through moult. Natural Free Range Layers Pellets are easy to feed and help to prevent selective feeding – keeping hens happy, healthy and laying well.
With added Omega 3 oils for healthy birds and wonderful eggs, Natural Free Range Layers Pellets contain grass, maize and marigold petals to promote a naturally golden yolk colour. Available in both 5kg and 20kg bags, they are boosted with vitamins and minerals providing everything your hens need for optimum health all year round and the small pellet size is also suitable for bantams.
