Thrapston and Raunds Rotary News
The December issue contained an early invite to what has become our main fundraising event. We will be holding our Annual Charity Fundraising Quiz on Saturday 28th January at Stanwick Village Hall starting at 7pm. Tickets cost £10 and can be obtained from members. Teams of up to 6 people will compete with prizes for the quiz and the table round. Full details can be found on our Facebook page but tickets can be obtained from club members or by telephoning 01933 624527.
The end of 2022 saw the club continuing
to use funds that we had previously raised
to support the local foodbanks in Thraspton and Raunds. We also joined with the Rushden Rotary Clubs of Rushden and Rushden Chichele to help a 72-year-old Ukrainian refugee who
struggles to walk. Olga Tatarenko fled her hometown in the Kharkiv region of eastern Ukraine in March, fortunately before missiles hit it. The region was one of the first areas attacked following the invasion, some of her neighbours were killed and her house was one of many that were damaged. Olga, who had a three-day journey to reach her daughter and family in Rushden, struggles to walk since she is waiting for a hip replacement. The three Rotary clubs have donated a mobility scooter to enable her to get around.
