In the ower section, I won the cup for the Best Exhibit in the ower classes with a potted begonia, just pipping my 1st prize vase of mixed garden owers which included spray chrysanthemums and Kings Seeds raised cut owers picked from my plot.

2nd overall for most points in the ower classes. Also at the show I collected my trophy and a crate of beer for the best kept allotment and my prize for the best kept polytunnel plot. This year the Society were celebrating 40 years and the committee must be congratulated on putting on a superb event and showing some of the highlights from the past 40 years with some wonderful photographic display boards around the hall, creating a lot of interest from visitors to the show. A fantastic weekend was had by all, certainly worthy of the celebration; well done to all the organisers, exhibitors and visitors for making it such a successful event.
The rest of September will be busy harvesting and clearing old crops ready for autumn and winter preparation, and, as the nights draw in, this will allow us all time to digest the new 2018 NSALG seed catalogue lled with a mixture of old favourites and new varieties to select from and decide what to grow next year. Don’t forget if any NSALG member has a seed problem and needs some advice, the team at Kings Seeds are always at the end of a phone to help. Happy gardening!
